(Synopsis)
Vision of Escaflowne: The Movie has nothing to do with the television series. Hitomi has never traveled to Gaea or met Van. This is a totally different storyline.
Hitomi Kanzaki is a depressed young girl who simply wishes to disappear from the face of the earth. Her wish finally came true when a strange man appears summons her to another dimension. Hitomi soon found herself in the midst of a war-torn world called Gaea. In the land of Gaea, Hitomi is known as the "Goddess of Wings". This is caused by when she is transferred to Gaea, she appears in the Dragon Armor, and all of the people fear her presence. The only way to explain how she became in this world is through the legend.
Legend has it that the "Goddess of Wings" has the power to either save or destroy all of Gaea, depending on what she wishes. One side wants Hitomi to be the savior while another wants her to be the destroyer. Van decides that he needs the Dragon Armor to defeat the Black Dragon Empire, the fearsome Dragon Armor which legend says annihilated ancient Gaea. The Dragon Tribe created this awe-invoking mechanical wonder eons ago. According to tradition, only the Wing Goddess can summon the Escaflowne, and only those of Dragon blood can bring it to life. What fate will Hitomi bring for Gaea?
